So if you’ve followed us for a while you know that we are passionate about creating amazing memory books that allow you to be creative without spending hours and hours on it. Let’s face it, we’re mums… no-one has that much time!

I want to show you some of my favourite tricks I use to create some truly special pages in my memory books.

Tip 1. Choose a colour palette

You can jump right in and play around with so many different colour options for you baby book or memory book but the perfectionist in me loves to choose a colour palette. Maybe it’s something that inspires you, or maybe it’s the colours you’ve chosen for you child’s room or nursery. Either way, the best way I’ve found to stay consistent is to jump onto Pinterest and print out the one that resonates with you the most.

This is the one I chose for my Mum and Me Adventure Book. I love the mix of blues and pinks. We live by the sea so lots of our photos have the ocean in them which helps co-ordinate the whole book.

2. Choose your photos!

Choose photos that match the moment, age or activity (depending on the book you're filling out). Today I was working on my Mum and Me Adventure Journal, and chose to do a page on bath times with my daughter. I love recording little things like that because by the time she's old enough to remember having baths, she'll be old enough to do them without constant supervision. I want her to know that bath time was a mum job in our house, and we spent hours splashing, singing and playing. 

I like to choose images that have the same colour theme and this then supports the colours I use on that page.

3. Colour in one direction

That's right! The secret to colouring in big bands of colour is to colour in one direction. Go with what's natural and comfortable for you and rotate the book if you need too. 

4. Layering

The beauty of using coloured pencils in our books is that you can layer colour. I've talked about it here >>> previously, but for all our new #memorymakers it's a great way to add depth and interest in your page without too much stress and hassle.

There you are! It's so easy to create something truly special and unique.
